DISTINGUISHED Jamaican diplomat Ambassador Lucille Mathurin Mair died yesterday morning at her home in Kingston. She was in her 85th year and had been ailing for some time. "Her passing is a sad loss to the international community, Jamaica, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its fraternity, indeed to all organisations and persons who were the beneficiaries of her contribution."

"She is praised as a trailblazer in her work and her life is a testimony of the strength and achievements of a phenomenal woman. Her service and her commitment will long be remembered, Dr Mair is survived by her daughter Ambassador Gail Mathurin who is the permanent secretary in the foreign ministry and sons David and Adrian Mathurin.
